During the electioneering campaign of the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo- CFR, so much talked about upgrading health infrastructure in Anambra Stae. He talked about equipping our general hospitals and the primary health centers.
He promised to hire requisite personnel to achieve optimal service delivery in Anambra Primary Healthcare System.
According to him, his administration’s goal is to provide access to quality and affordable healthcare for all residents of Anambra.
Now, read below to see some of the things he has been doing to achieve his goals.
Prof C C Soludo- CFR, as Governor, has recruited over 1000 healthcare professionals, including consultants, qualified Nurses, pharmacists, medical laboratory scientists, and technicians to end the era of hospitals without health professionals in Anambra State.
He has reconstructed, upgraded and equipped the 3 General Hospitals he met on ground which where simply “shameful to behold” at the time.
He has Constructed a further 5 extra brand-new Hospitals at Fegge in Onitsha (remember that as big as Onitsha is, it never had a General Hospital), Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area (remember that Okpoko before the arrival of Gov Soludo had the inglorious status of the biggest urban slum in this part of the globe), Enugu-OtuAguleri General Hospital in Anambra East LGA, Anaku General Hospital in Ayamelum LGA, Oroma-etiti General Hospital in Anambra West LGA
There is an ongoing construction of a Trauma Unit at Amaku General Hospital, a hospital which have been receiving ceaseless attention for improved provision of tertiary medical services for Ndi Anambra.
Having promised the incorporation of community structure and members into the governance, ownership, amd management of community health facilities and programs, Gov Soludo’s administration have successfully trained 150 medical workers in the management of Non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
There is also the successful training of health workers on the use of Cholera EDT kits and Covid-19 Antegen test kits.
Furthermore, his administration embarked on and successfully trained and involved Health Workers, Community Supervisors and Community Drug Distributors in Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) program. Over 7,800 individuals benefited from this.
Not forgetting the specialized training in oxygen usage, to ensure preparedness for emergencies and handling of critical cases.
Then, the Free Antenatal and Delivery Services in Anambra: under the leadership of Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo- CFR, All State-Owned General Hospitals now offer free antenatal and free delivery services (be reminded that Anambra came second by March this year already in Child Mortality performance only behind Lagos, because of the Governor,s intentional approach to health as promised in his Social Agenda. The truth is that we are likely ending up in no distant time as the number one state with the lowest child mortality rate in the entire country.
