Approximately 80 Catholic Bishops are set to gather in Auchi, Edo State, for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria’s (CBCN) second plenary session, scheduled from August 22 to 30. The CBCN, the highest decision-making body of the Catholic Church in Nigeria, addresses matters concerning the Catholic faith and societal issues, issuing resolutions and communiqués.
According to Rev. Fr. Peter Egielewa, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, this conference marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time Auchi hosts the event since the Diocese’s establishment in 2003.
Fr. Egielewa noted, “The meeting will bring together over 80 Catholic Bishops to Auchi Diocese, also known as Afenmai land, which encompasses the six local government areas of Edo North Senatorial District in Edo State.”
