Faith-Chat Platform’s Easter outreaches have once again exceeded expectations, feeding more than 8,000 people in twelve African cities. The effort, led by visionary founder Fr. James Anyaegbu, sought to offer sustenance and hope to people in great need.
The outreach spanned cities in Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana, and Mozambique, targeting areas of severe need. In Nigeria, the team ventured into communities like Ilaje in Lagos State, where poverty and neglect have left residents hungry and destitute. The streets of Abuja witnessed the heartbreaking sight of almajiri children, deprived and scavenging for sustenance. Similar scenes unfolded in Owerri, Port Harcourt, Enugu, and Awka, highlighting the widespread hunger and neglect faced by both children and the elderly.
Across Africa, from Nairobi to Yaounde, Greater Accra to Northern Ghana, and Masacca to Namaacha in Mozambique, Faith-Chat’s volunteers worked tirelessly to procure and distribute food with love and care. Despite initial plans to feed 7,000 people, the outreach exceeded expectations, ultimately serving 8,160 individuals.
Yet, in addition to providing physical nutrition, the outreach sought to offer long-lasting joy and spiritual nourishment. In the midst of adversity, the team attempted to elevate spirits and develop a feeling of community through dance battles and interactive activities.
Unfortunately, amidst the celebration of charity and compassion, the Faith-Chat community mourns the loss of one of its own. Varoline Mofor, a dedicated coordinator from Cameroon, died several weeks after the outreach. Her dedication and passion for philanthropic work had a lasting impact on the communities she served. The organisation sends heartfelt condolences to her family and remembers her as a symbol of selflessness and service.
As Fr. James Anyaegbu reflects on the strides made thus far, he emphasises the value of unity, compassion, and unflinching commitment to serve humanity’s most vulnerable. Faith-Chat Platform remains a source of hope in communities across Africa, thanks to collaborative efforts and generous support.
