The faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria have been charged to attack challenges confronting them with prayers. The Bishop of the diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh gave this charge at the Mass for the 2025 Flag Off and Lenten Campaign, Christ the King Catholic Cathedral (CKCC), Sabo Gari Zaria, on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
He referenced the Israelites in the first reading, who felt that God had either abandoned or was far away from them, in acknowledging that Nigerians are also suffering. However, he assured Nigerians that they will succeed, like the Israelites, who received God’s assurance of their deliverance, through Moses.
The leader said, “This is very practical and relevant to us here, in Nigeria. We will not die. We will live. We will succeed. And that is why, we do not need to get discouraged in whatever difficulty we are passing through. Let us go on our knees. If difficulties are challenging us, let us challenge the difficulties back with prayers.”
In his message for the campaign titled, ‘Promoting the Catholic Social Teachings as a Vehicle for Socio-Economic and Political Reorientation in the Catholic Diocese of Zaria,’ the bishop reminded them that every person is made in the image and likeness of God, conveying that, “This is a fundamental truth that calls us to treat each individual with respect and honour, regardless of their social or economic status.”
“We are one human family, interconnected and interdependent. Solidarity compels us to stand with the poor and marginalized, sharing in their joys and sorrows. As Christians, we are called to work for the well-being of all, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and opportunities needed to flourish.”
Bishop Daboh intimated that proceeds from the campaign will be used to assist the needy communities within the diocese. He also implored the faithful to look round them and help those who need their assistance.
