Justice Development and Peace Commission, JDPC, Onitsha archdiocese, lba Pope Parish recently inducted new members into her fold. Among those inducted as benefactors and benefactress included Mr.Collins Obinwa, mayor Peter Ezenwamba, Sir Joseph Oranu, Mr. Jude Chikadibia, Hippolitus Nwadinigwe, Magnus Ezeala, lady Meg Oruche and lady Henrietta Ozoigbo.
Speaking at the Occasion, the director of JDPC , Onitsha archdiocese, Very Rev. Fr Edwin Udoye commended the spirit of philanthropy in the inductees that necessitated their membership of the JDPC as a humanitarian organisation and urged them not to relent as such Godly works for humanity will not go unrewarded.
Fr Udoye noted with dissatisfaction that the JDPC in some parishes of the archdiocese are no longer living up to expectations and urged active members of the commission to do something in that direction. He advised the newly inducted members to work harder for the progress and growth of the commission, just as he counselled all the members of the JDPC in all the parishes not to look at anybody’s face in carrying out their humanitarian work.
. Also speaking, the chairman of the JDPC, SS John and Paul parish, Awada Bro. Collins Obinwa thanked the director of the JDPC, zonal and the regional members for their commitment towards the upkeep of the humanitarian commission. He further disclosed the important public works the commission would do in the week and advised their members to show commitment to duty.
Earlier in the address of welcome read at the reception of the newly inducted members of the commission, the secretary of the JDPC, lba Pope parish, Bro. Onwudebe Fabian highlighted some of the achievements of the JDPC in the parish and the challenges confronting the commission. He disclosed that the commission gives food periodically to the less privileged, payment of hospital Bill’s for those who were not able to do so, evangelization for new members , periodic environmental clean up exercise, participation during political elections amongst others.
One of the newly inducted who donated the sum of N150,000.00 for the upkeep of the parish JDPC, lady Oruche Meg, a retired teacher hinted that she has passion for helping the needy in our society and thus sees the Justice Development and Peace Commission as a good platform for so doing. She pledged not to relent in carrying out charity works for the glory of God. Highpoint of the induction ceremony was the award of service to humanity given to some distinguished members of the commission.
