The Chairman of the recently constituted Welfare Committee of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Edward Abbah has assured parishioners that his committee will account for every resources made available to the committee. In an interview with Trinitas Newspaper, the team leader disclosed that the committee aims at among other things, giving back to parishioners, by supporting the needy ones among them. He clarified that though his society, St. Vincent De Paul also reaches out to people outside the parish, the welfare committee will focus primarily on needy parishioners.
“People will feel that when resources are made available.” The chairman revealed. “We will be accountable. It is a council committee. So, from time to time, we will be reporting to the priest and the council, regarding how we manage resources. We will make it open from day one. Over three, six months, we see how much we got and how much we spent. It will be an open book.”
On the confidentiality and integrity of beneficiaries, Prof. Abbah responded that his team will borrow a leaf from St Vincent De Paul, “Members do not benefit directly. We practice strict confidentiality. When you write to us and we treat your matter it ends there. It is when we are recording after months that your name may come up again. Once we give you, it ends there. “
