Rev Fr. Philip Osakwe, a Catholic priest of Nnewi Diocese, has reminded Christians that Lent is a period to reconcile with God and urged them to take advantage of this season to reflect on their lives and seek forgiveness.
Speaking during his sermon last Sunday, Fr. Osakwe emphasized that Lent is a time for spiritual renewal and growth, and encouraged Christians to use this period to examine their consciences, confess their sins, and make amends.
“Lent is an opportunity to reconnect with God and with our own selves,” Fr. Osakwe said. “It’s a time to let go of our past mistakes, seek forgiveness, and start anew.”
He reminded Christians that Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is a demonstration of God’s love and mercy, and urged them to reciprocate this love by living a life of obedience to God’s commandments.
Fr. Osakwe also encouraged Christians to use the Lenten season to cultivate habits of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, saying that these practices can help deepen their faith and foster a sense of community with others.
As Christians mark the Lenten season, Fr. Osakwe’s message serves as a reminder of the importance of reconciliation, forgiveness, and spiritual growth.
