In a bid to bring the ongoing case of the arrest of two female Christian teachers to a favourable end, the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sabo Gari, Kaduna State, Ven Dr. Adeshina Emmanuel Adeniyi (JP), solicited financial assistance from churches, members of the association and well-meaning groups and individuals. The teachers who were arrested in their workplace, a private school in Zaria, September, 2025, were also remanded in a correctional centre the same day, where they remained, till they were granted bail on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Briefing members of the association on the case, during the Grand Finale of the 2026 CAN Universal Week of Prayer, which took place in Chapel of Redemption, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, on Sunday, the chairman told them how far they have intervened in the matter, disclosing that the sum of five hundred thousand naira (₦500,000.00) only, is needed to empower the lawyers handling the case, to bring it to a logical conclusion.
He said, “It was quite an embarrassing situation in September, 2025 when two Christian women, working in a private school, here in Zaria were allegedly arrested on a case of sexual molestation. They were taken for interrogation same day; taken for medical test same day; summoned to court same day; and remanded in correctional centre same day.”
“CAN never had an opportunity to mediate before going to court. However we waved into the matter by engaging a lawyer from Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria (CLASFON), alongside others from the families involved to handle the matter. Through the help of God Almighty and authorities in the land, we secured their bail on 18th December, 2025.”
“We remain grateful to CLASFON for their support and sacrifices to CAN Sabon Gari. The case was adjourned to Thursday, 15th January, 2026. We are soliciting for financial support of the sum of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000) to enable our lawyers pursue this case to a logical conclusion.”
Dr. Adeniyi thanked those who have been attending previous court sessions on the matter, appealing to participants at the gathering to raise an offering to help the women. He then prayed that the Almighty God deliver them from all evil and wickedness.
