Faithful of the Catholic diocese of Zaria have been tasked to love one another and forgive those who have offended them. Giving the task on the Solemnity of Christ the Universal King, during the Mass he celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Cathedral (CKCC), Sabon Gari, Zaria, Sunday, November 23, 2025, the Chief Shepherd of the diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh pointed them to Christ, the Universal King; who loved and forgave, even when He was hanging on the Cross.
His Lordship intimated that Jesus wants them to do as He did, rather than harbor hatred and bear grudges against one another. Blaming the problem of the world on lack of forgiveness, the spiritual leader lamented that some family members neither appreciate nor talk to one another, just as some families rejoice when terrible things befall other families.
“That is not what Jesus wants us to do.” The bishop told them. “He wants us to love, to be merciful, to be compassionate and to forgive those who have offended us. In some families, you meet people who do not even talk to each other. You meet people who do not appreciate each other. If something terrible happens to family A, Family B will be rejoicing, and some of us are happy when terrible things happen to other people. Keep nobody in mind.”
“Brothers and sisters, it is time for us to love. It is time for us to forgive. It is time for us to be merciful and compassionate to one another. The world will be a better place for all of us if we do what Jesus has asked us to do. He did it for you and me. Let us do the same for our brothers and sisters through Christ our Lord.”
