The Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Pius Kagarko has implored graduating members of Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS), of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria to allow the wisdom and the knowledge they have acquired in the course of the studentship to spur them into positive actions and influence. He gave the charge during the Mass he celebrated for their graduation at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, ABU, Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Congratulating them, their families, mentors and the parish community for attaining such new level, the vicar reminded them that learning is a lifelong journey, during which different challenges and opportunities are bound to present themselves to them. He then proffered remaining courageous, putting their God-given talents to good use and exhibiting good attitude towards the people who come their ways as some of the ways to succeed.
“Your graduation is not just a milestone.” He told them. “It is a masterpiece you that have crafted with determination and grace. But remember that learning is a lifelong journey. So, graduation is not an end but a beginning. It is a launching-back into a new phase of life. Use the gift that you have been given to find work that is just and make a positive influence in the world. Let the wisdom and the knowledge you have gained propel you forward to serve, to yield a better world and to live a life of purpose and continuous learning.”
“I pray and hope that you find all the success and happiness in the world as you start this new and exciting chapter of your lives. Be brave as you face the challenges of finding out your place in the society. Strive to live lives of peace, lives of service and lives of gratitude and making the world a better place. Carry hopes in your hearts as you move forward, knowing that, there are challenges and opportunities ahead of you. I am proud and happy for you. Congratulations and God bless you.”
Fr. Kagarko urged them to keep trusting God for guidance, support and strength as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. “Embrace this moment with gratitude, for the support of your families and the guidance of your mentors.” He added.
