BY REV FR GERALD NWAFOR
In recent years, since the 2023 election, if you want to be relevant in the news, there is only one way to achieve that: simply attack Peter Obi. Peter Obi has more than 40 million people supporting him today in Nigeria, so if you throw a stone at him, your name will go viral on social media because his followers will come after you. If half of his followers put your name on the internet, that is 20 million users, almost the population of some African and European countries. That was what Deji discovered and started attacking Peter Obi in the name of an activist. I looked at him critically and I discovered that he is a hungry boy looking for fame. He called himself an activist.
I have studied the history of the world. I do not think that Gandhi, Luther, Malcom, Gani, Solarin, Park, and very recently Malala Yousafzai ever called themselves activists. They were all educated and well-employed persons who lived their normal life, whose logic of their situation shot them up to the top echelon of life, and people started calling them activists.
I have watched this Mr.Deji many times parading himself as an activist. Please, Mr. Deji, it doesn’t work like that. Go about your regular life, make a living, and if you become an activist, then society will find you. All those activists who joined Buhari and Tinubu in 2013 and 2014, where are they today? Some became governors and presidents, and the activist spirit died. Now you said that Peter Obi used Anambra State money for his private business and family business. Deji, are you from Anambra State biko? Why are you drinking Tylenol for another person’s headache? I was hoping that you would help the states in western Nigeria fight corruption. I have advised Peter Obi to ignore you because taking you to court will give you some political capital, not positively, but that was what you were going for. I listened to your interview on Channels TV. I can see a young man begging for popularity with bad grammar. You are supposed to be a lawyer, but I just discovered that you went to law school three years ago. And you have said publicly that you will vote for Tinubu, I congratulate you on that stand because ‘Kaodi kpoba kaodi egolu.’ (peri cum peribus). I don’t know who is paying you, but I know who is paying Reno Omokri.
Reno Omokri is a failed political ally of Atiku Abubakar, and Tinubu hired him so that he can swallow back all the shit he vomited during the campaign against Tinubu. He agreed to go back to his vomit like a dog without shame. Both Deji and Reno had said in the past that the only person who can fix Nigeria is Peter Obi. One may ask what has changed, that the same people who worship Peter some years ago are now the people who call him unprintable names. I can forgive Reno because we know that hunger is a bad thing. When politicians are hungry for food or for power, they can insult their mother and father in the name of politics. Reno was with Jonathan, and he insulted Atiku. Reno was with Peter, and he insulted Tinubu and Buhari. Reno was with Atiku, and he called Tinubu a drug Lord. Now he is with Tinubu, his stomach has been fed, and his hands greased; he has turned against Atiku and Obi. That surprises no one. When Tinubu ghosts him, I really wonder where he will pitch his tent, and the next person will start attacking. I do not think that he is worthy of anything he says. He also calls himself an activist and a table shaker. I have not seen the table he shook the last time he appeared on national television to control damage to the Dave Umahi Coastal highway. A small journalist went to the highway and discovered that it was only six complete kilometers, not 20 as Reno claimed. Reno was called by the government; he was trying to cover up and retract what he said. What a shame. I do not think that Deji and Reno should be replied to by Peter. Deji and Reno are distractions, to say the least. We should not waste our ink on the two stooges.
In philosophy, there is something called verisimilitude, which simply means appearing to be real or true. Some lies appear to be true, but Deji and Reno have not put them into the category of verisimilitude; therefore, they should not be entertained on any level. Someone has also come to say on the national TV that Deji asked Peter to anoint him as a candidate of the Labor Party to contest for the House of Assembly, but Peter saw tomorrow and did not venture into the trap. Americans would say, “Peter did not fall for that.” Deji, wake up because you are sleeping. The gap between you and Peter is like going to Nigeria from London on foot.
Let us not lose focus because of Mr. Deji and Reno, because the public knew they were just chasing clout. They want publicity that they cannot handle. I am planning to attack Peter in one of my works so that I can become popular overnight. Deji has a sickness we call in psychology “Envy the rich and imitate the powerful.” How can you wake up on money to accuse Peter Obi of corruption in Nigeria, and the Tinubu government will keep quiet? In a lighter mode, I remember the wife of the president then (Dame Patient) asking the parents and teachers of Chibok girls, “Will you keep quiet?” and they responded “No” and she continued by saying, ‘Chayi chayi chayi.” Today, I ask you to testify that if the government of Tinubu finds any corruption on Peter, do you think they will wait a minute to arrest him? The answer is Chayi, chayi, chayi. In the political terrain of Nigeria as of today, Peter is above board and the bride of the nation in waiting. Tinubu can hire 1000 Deji and 1 million Reno. I can tell you that they cannot touch Peter because the destiny of Peter was written in Gold by God. We are waiting for them in 2027 because we know that many more Deji and Reno are warming up to escalate the attack on Obi and the Obidients. Deji and Reno are two incompetent activists who have failed in their planned trade (activism). So the only available option is to take money from the ruling party and start attacking Peter. Chayi, chayi, chayi.
