During the electioneering campaign of Prof Charles Chukwma Soludo-CFR for the Governorship Position of Anambra State, there were four major demands by Ndi Anambra. These demands were almost coincitedly made with ‘that is the only things we want from you’ hiding “conspicuously” through them. Ndi Anambra were United in making them.
We demanded;
1- Roads
2- Roads,
3- Roads
and
4- Any other thing.
It was largely acknowledged that Anambra has good road networks but the roads were not motorable, traveling around the state had already become a nightmare, businesses started relocating, and Joy started growing cold whenever people thought of coming to Anambra to do business or ordinary to visit home.
The church complained, the civil society, Nollywood Stars, everyone complained.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who openly acknowledged the situation at hand as at then would always respond in our usual Igbo parlance, “Unu añuná ngwo, na nkwu n’abia”.
Today, Chalie Nwa Mgbafor as Mr Governor is fondly called, even when he is doing equally very admirably in every other areas of governance, has made good his promise of turning Anambra State into one huge roads construction site, in a bid to make coming to do business in Anambra even more appealing than what it used to be in our glory days, In a bid to make movement around the state easier and pleasurable. In a deliberate and systematic disruptive governance that aims to create a sustainable growth that will see Anambra become that livable and prosperous homeland.
Looking at one out of many mind blowing disruptive changes in Road Infrastructures. The Ekwulobia Flyover
On the 16th of October 2023, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) approved and awarded contracts for the construction of a flyover to solve the well known Ekwulobia Traffic Bottleneck around the heart of that town which is so strategic to business and movements in and out of Anambra State.
This Project has other adjoining projects and roads around it, this are;
Nanka –Ekwulobia Road
Uga Road through Aguata local Government Headquarters two-point zero-kilometer road.
About a kilometer Ekwulobia Oko Raod and
Over 1 kilometer Ekwulobia – Isuofia road_All dualised!
Other ancillary structures and facilities that accompines the Flyover are;
A bus terminal building
Fuel station
Security office building
Fire station and other external works, such as sewage treatment facilities, drainages, landscaping, among others. There will be a Boulevard that will be gracing this project to the administration of man and nature.
This Project with it’s adjourning roads is now not only solving the movement challenges, in Anambra South Senatorial District, but it seems to have actually recreated and birthed the fourth Anambra Urban Metropolis_ The Ekwulobia Metropolis.
Truly, as Gov Chukwuma Charles Soludo-CFR will say, ” Leadership borders on the wisdom to know what is right, and the courage to get it done “. He has demonstrated the Hercules’ courage and the spartan resilience through discouraging pop-ups to get this projects to where they are today.
But as for me, I think the best thing that Ndi Anambra deed was, getting the Chairman of Anambra Vision 2070 to take it off. This will be Understood in many years to come.
