Trinitas Newspapers Associate Editor,Rev Fr Samuel Nwankwo has deplored the rising greed and avarice among youths of today.
Fr Nwankwo made this observation while delivering a sermon during a Mass at the Basilica on Sunday.
According to Fr Samuel, the current insecurity across the country is the consequence of greed and avarice such that youths are only seeking shortcut to make money instead of seeking education and acquiring skill.
Fr Samuel reminded the faithful that life in itself is temporary and that one of the preoccupations of a faithful should be to always prepare for the final destination to meet the creator.
“In this life he said, let us not put our minds in the things of this earth. What Jesus is reminding us today is that,”Blessed are the poor in spirit and that whatever is happening to us is supposed to make us come closer to God”.
Fr Samuel pointed out that in life, some people try to make genuine efforts to succeed while others want a shortcut adding that the wages of sin is death.
He urged the faithful not to forget the teachings of resurrection pointing out that it is what reminds us that we shall die one day and resurrect and give account of our lives before God.
