The Parish priest of Holy Trinity parish Ogidi Rev Fr Josehpat Nzekwesi last Sunday called on youth to have a re-thing and shun any attraction that may lead them back to idolatry as the only option to gain salvation is to follow Christ and shun fetish practices.
Fr Nzekwesi gave the advice while preaching a Sunday homily. According to him, light has no connection with darkness. Describing Christ as the light, he explained that no one can gain salvation from darkness.
He expressed worries that youth of nowadays are being deceived to believe that practicing of paganism can set them free from difficulties and challenges of life. Fr Nzekwesi stated emphatically that nothing good comes from worshipping of devil rather misery and regret at the end of time.
Quoting St Paul, he said ‘ Don’t allow your self to be deceived into searching for light in the pit of darkness. ” Church brings the light of Christ to our doorsteps. In other words, as Christians, we should grow our faith by attending Sunday Masses, supporting the church and participating fully in the activities of the church.
He reminded faithful that we are serving loving God who is also God of vengeance, adding that any one engaging in evil act will not be spared at the last day.
Fr Nzekwesi charged parents not to relent in constantly advising their children not to go back to idolatry and worshipping of marine spirits since there is no salvation there.
