By Rev Fr Gerald Nwafor

In the Christian tradition, the month of November is marked for praying for the dead or the souls of the faithful departed. But this November 2025 is one of the craziest I have witnessed in decades. It started with a love story that was going south about Senator Ned Nwoko and the young Regina Daniels, who was numbered the sixth wife or there about.

I do not know Ned Nwoko very well, so I do not want to underestimate or overestimate the number occupied by Regina Daniels.

By the way, I was not informed when the wedding took place, but I heard from some sources that the mother supported the marriage while the father rejected the union. I’m just saying this so that if you have any questions, I think Google would be a good place to look at.

As we were reading and digesting the love story, Yerima and Wike stormed social media. It was like a thunderstorm from nowhere, since the people of Nigeria had concluded that Wike, who helped to suspend a sitting governor, could be stopped by a small boy of 24 years. The news sounded fake, but with the help of mobile phone, social media, and the internet, the news broke like wildfire and was confirmed by no other person but Wike, who went ahead to give a press conference on what transpired between him and the young officer.

I got the news more than 100 times from different people telling me their own side of the story. The interesting part was the phone call made by Wike to an army officer who also spoke to Yerima on that spot but failed woefully to have any effect on the young officer.

That was the situation before we saw an activist, Verydarkman (VDM) head-butting another activist called Mr. Jollof in a plane. The story said that both men had been insulting each other on social media and promised to fight any day they saw eye-to-eye. So, on that fateful day, something happened that they boarded the same flight from Lagos to Asaba. I tell you what, they kept true to their promise.

The fight broke out immediately when they met each other. The Verydarkman used his fist while Mr. Jollof used his teeth. I am surprised that some people were complaining that Mr. Jollof failed the test by using his teeth. I disagree because our people said that in a fight, everything is a fair game (Adacho ogu mma), you do not beautify warfare. We were watching all this drama, but remember that Nigerians can be fighting each other until football comes into the arena, and unity will take over. The news that Nigeria defeated Gabon 4-1 in a World Cup qualifier filtered through the air, and the attention of everyone got diverted. Now we have one more team to beat to get our spot in the biggest sports festival, the FIFA World Cup in the USA 2026. The march with Congo DRC was on a Sunday, and we were all high-hoping. I have already told my Congo friends that we will win with a large margin.

I was surprised to come back from my assignment only to discover that the giant of Africa has been knocked out of the FIFA Mundial, all this happening just in November.

What would be good news that I would add so that November would not be all gloomy and doomy? We are digesting the American offer from Donald Trump, which really ushered in the month of November. The lies from the government to cover up the story about Christian genocide, mass killing, and kidnapping happening in the country, an avalanche of security failures erupted.

A brigadier general was killed by an Islamic terrorist, 38 worshippers were kidnapped during Sunday worship, 323 kids were kidnapped from their school, 34 kids were kidnapped from another school, and 12 people were kidnapped from their farm. Since there were no statistics, the number of people killed in those attacks was between 10 to 20, but we know of the vice principal and the 3 worshippers. The trial of Nnamdi Kanu (MNK) was concluded without any instant law of the land. One may ask on which Law he was convicted and sent to prison in Sokoto State?

November should take it easy on us, or should we say that we should be nice to November? Some people got more than two events because social media was awash when the PDP (People’s Democratic Party) went to their office to take possession of what belongs to them. There were two factions in the building that same day, and there was a showdown. The police were using teargas as if to say there was a riot. Although there was a commotion because the camp loyal to Wike did not want the camp of Bala Mohammed to take hold of the office.

The office has been shut down permanently by the security officials. Finally, one good thing happened: the King of the Universe took the center stage and celebrated his Ofala festival all over the world, and Nigeria benefited from it.

It was a colorful Sunday, and people were dancing and singing in front of the King in the Blessed Sacrament. I hope the priests and the lay faithful have time to read out to him the situation of the country now. We should not be telling him about not going to the World Cup or stopping the fight in PDP. Neither should we add the two love birds and their social media propaganda, or the two irresponsible activists showing a bad example to Gen Z.

The address should be all about the peace and security of our beloved nation. The release of the innocent school children kidnapped. I do not want to discuss the closure of schools because of the terrorists’ activities, but I would like the federal government to take this time to plan on how to make the school environment safe, since the insecurity has come to stay.

Another good news was the end of the political tension in Anambra State since the election happened in November, and a winner emerged without any court case; it is time to lead in governance. The rain has come and gone, the flood wahala is now behind us.

November is a month set aside for the preparation of Christmas, but the way I am looking at this November, I wish Christmas would not be postponed. We have come a long way; we will win this battle and get to December as quickly as possible.
