On Sunday 18th February 2024, the Vice Rector of St Joseph Minor Seminary Zaria, Rev Fr Benedict Nkom celebrated a Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
There he leaned on the Gospel reading on the temptation of Jesus in disclosing that the devil changes patterns in order to remain in business even as he tasked the faithful to update their methods of overcoming the deceiver.
He said, “The devil is like a very good businessman. He changes his forms, if not he will run out of business. In your Christian journey, most of the sins you fall into come by an act of suggestion.
Ninety five percent of temptations will come up the minute you switch on your phone. So if you are thinking that you will do ‘get behind me Satan’ when you see him with dragon as you are meant to see in pictures, then it may never happen in this life because he has changed his entices and tactics.
The devil is in the Church in form of distractions. He devil will come in people’s voices telling you to do the bad thing. That is why the children of God are supposed to change the methods with which they fight. All he needs is to get you to fall and he holds you captive.”Fr Nkom who spoke on ‘New Beginnings’ told them that every Lenten Season is one of many new beginnings in one’s life whether or not they have experienced so many Lenten Seasons. He then charged them to seize the present Lenten Season to work on their weaknesses as a way of starting anew in needy areas of their lives.
