The members st. Patrick’s. Ward Iba Pope Awada led by their Chairman Mr. Christian Onyeka Uzoigwe recently joined rheir counterparts the world over in celebrating their patronal feast day. The event attracted all her members and featured award to some of their deserving members.
Speaking at the occasion, the Onitsha Catholic Archdiocesan director of social communication, Rev.Fr . George Adimike explained that the event which was second in the hierarchy of Catholic patronal feast celebration was marked with public holiday in Europe and preceded with procession especially in lreland and and in Newyork .He commended the members of st. Patrick’s ward for the celebration which is fundamental to their faith.
Rev. Fr. Adimike suggested that they should be celebrating the feast with the commitment and seriousness it deserves. Commenting on the essence of the celebration, the chairman of the St. Patrick’s ward SS John and Paul lba Pope Awada, Mr.Uzoigwe disclosed that their patronal feast celebration which is held every year on the 17th of march was the second patron saint ceremony ever celebrated in the catholic community.
Mr Onyeka Uzoigwe expressed appreciation for St Patrick’s ward council adviser, Rev. Fr. Valentine Obiagwu who supposedly flagged off the event. He further explained that the ceremony enables them to strive for the life of a saint and called on their members to live as such as their patronal feast rememberance day would not be for nothing.
Also speaking at the occasion, one of the st Patrick’s ward patron, Chief Christopher Okwerogu similarly explained that the anniversary day celebration of their patron saint was phenominal to them because it affords them the chance to live a holy life which invariably is fundamental to christian faith. He expressed satisfaction that they joined their contemporary all over the world in marking the event.
