On Sunday, October 26, 2025, Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish Community, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, bid farewell to over sixty graduating members of Long Vacation Term (LVT) Arm of Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS). Congratulating the honorees for completing their studies which lingered due to COVID-19 and prolonged ASSU strikes, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ezekiel Danlami Tijjani charged them to represent the university and the Church positively.
The clergyman reminded them that they have been formed both intellectually and morally by the University, intimating that the University has the right to withdraw their certificates, if they do things that tarnish her image. He also nudged them to apply the added knowledge they have acquired to enhance their career, in such a way that they may produce better children for the society, because “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
He continued. “The University has given you character, good morals, that you may go out, not only to teach but to train children with good morals. People need to feel the impact of your education. So, your character outside this place will go a long way to tell people the kind of degree you have. As you step out today, remember to be grateful, stay grounded and live purposefully.”
“Remember to pause and give thanks for the support of family, mentors and friends, for every sleepless night, every breakthrough, and every person who believed in you when you doubted yourself. This is meant to prepare you for the task ahead. Obtaining a degree is not the end. It is the beginning of a life that God has designed to make a difference. May our prayers be accomplished in your lives!”
