The Chief Shepherd of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Most Rev. Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh, praised his flock for participating in large numbers in the 2024 Christ the King Procession.
The event, held at St. Joseph Minor Seminary, Zaria, on Sunday, November 24, 2024, marked Bishop Daboh’s first Christ the King celebration as the diocese’s pilot.
“I’m impressed by your turnout,” Bishop Daboh said. “I want to thank each of you for sparing time to celebrate Jesus as our Universal King. Don’t get discouraged; God is always with you. Give Him the opportunity to use you.”
Bishop Daboh, formerly Rector of The Good Shepherd Major Seminary, Kaduna, emphasized his commitment to improving the diocese.
“Having completed the Universal Church’s Year, I’ll work with clergy and laity to enhance our diocese,” he said.
During the Mass of the Solemnity at Christ the King Catholic Cathedral, Sabon Gari, Zaria, Bishop Daboh reflected on Jesus’ response to Pilate (John 18:37).
“Jesus testified to the truth, and those who belong to the truth listen to His voice,” Bishop Daboh said. “We belong to God’s kingdom, where He shows compassion, mercy, and love.”
“We don’t belong to a fleeting kingdom; our King reigns forever in the Blessed Sacrament,” he emphasized. “Do we greet Him, prostrate before Him, and acknowledge His presence?”
Bishop Daboh catechized on Catholic teaching:
“When passing the Blessed Sacrament, genuflect or bow. Honour Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and on the Cross.”
“Recognize Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords,” Bishop Daboh urged. “Revere Him, adore Him, and acknowledge His presence.”
“Give God the opportunity to use you.
We belong to God’s kingdom of compassion, mercy, and love.Honour Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at every possible time “
Bishop Daboh’s message emphasized honouring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and recognizing His eternal reign.
