Christians have been advised to redouble their prayers and give alms at this lenten season in order to conquer temptations and hardship hitting the masses in Nigeria.
Rev Fr Stephen Odinde, a resident priest at Holy Cross Parish Nkpor gave the advice while preaching a Homily last Sunday.
According to him Christians should believe in the power of prayer and redouble their prayers now lenten season is still counting.
” As followers of Christ, we should imitate His life style of prayer so that we can always navigate and conquer earthly challenges,” adding that Christ prays without ceasing, reminding Christians that when Christ was not preaching or working, he must be praying.
“Don’t forget that before Christ was transfigured at mountain Thabo, he was in prayers. At the time devil tempted him, he just ended his forty days fasting and prayers. At the point He was arrested by the Jews before crucifixion, he was deeply in prayers and at the end, He conquered death.”
“In essence, we must pray as if the world is ending today because we have no other weapon to scare and defeat our enemies than prayers. Family that prays together, stays together. If you stop praying, inadvertently, you are inviting devil to your life or to your family who will come and ruin and destroy.”
“In other words, pray your self out of trouble and don’t solely rely on someone’s prayers for God’s intervention. You must make personal effort to pray,” he advised.
