Over 140 Candidates receive the Sacrament of Confirmation

The Catholic community and the faithful of Ogbakuba recently played host to the Archbishop of Onitsha, His Grace, Most Rev Valerian Okeke on the 10 March, 2024 as he paid a Pastoral visit to St. John Parish Ogbakuba
His visit attracted parishioners and friends of the community.
In his homily, His Grace, Most Rev Valerian Okeke, told the faithful that his mission was to encourage the work of evangelism going on in the parish. Also, he appreciated Ogbakuba Community and the entire Parishioners for their good works and the love existing between them and their Priests.
The Chief Shepherd advised faithful to avoid sin since every sin one committed has a consequence.
Sin, he said is evil and can attract punishment and destruction to someone’s life or even to a community and nation.
As Christians let us shun sin and live a life pleasing to God. ” Live your life with faith and never be afraid of any other god
except the Almighty God. If you have faith, you will have life. In your journey of life, accept any suffering that comes your with faith in God and at the end it will bring a blessing.”
The prelate also reminded faithful that God’s mercy is forgiving, transformative and doesn’t end, urging christians to always forgive those that wronged them without conditions. “Forgive others the way God forgives you. Also, the love of God forgives, revives, strengths. Extent that love of Christ to your neighbours”.
In appreciation, the Parish Priest, Rev Fr Sabastian Madike thanked Archbishop Valerian Okeke for the visit, which he said will bring both physical and spiritual growth in the Parish as well as the community. He also urged the candidates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation to hold on to the teachings of the Church and pay attention to their parents and teachers and all those who advised them on the right path to life
Furthermore, the Vice Chairman, Parish Council, Sir Fidelis Afubero who spoke to Trinitas expressed joy over the event. He articulated his gratitude to the Archbishop for coming to their parish . Also, he charged fellow parishioners to remain committed to upholding the Faith. Likewise, he urged the candidates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation to serve God in spirit and in truth while becoming valuable assets to the society.
