Residents of Enekwasumpu in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, were filled with joy last Wednesday as Idemili North LGA Chairman/ Mayor Hon Stanley Nkwoka flagged off the construction of Nwadiobu Street Road.
During the flag-off ceremony, the Chairman, Hon Nkwoka, who attracted the road project, recalled that he had promised the people of Enekwasumpu that the road would be fixed when he assumed office.
“We had a brief discussion with our working governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, during our budget planning, and he approved the budget, which included this road project,” Chief Nkwoka said. “That’s how we came here today to flag off the project, which we expect to complete in 10 weeks. We’re constructing a stone base road, which will be a first of its kind in Anambra State. This is a pilot road, and in 10 weeks’ time, you can come back and see the progress we’ve made.”
The contractor handling the project, Mr. Odera Ezeh, revealed that the 0.5633-kilometer road connects to many other roads, describing it as a link road. “As the Mayor has assured the completion of this road project in 10 weeks, the contractor is also pledging that the road will be ready for use soon,” Mr. Ezeh said.
He appreciated the Anambra State Government for finding it important to build the road, noting that the project would greatly benefit the people living in the area. “The road will be constructed with interlocks and streetlights,” he added.
Residents of the area, including Chief Mike Okoye, Sir Pius Ndubuisi, Mrs. Nneka Ugochukwu, and others, eulogized the Idemili North Mayor for fulfilling his promise. They described him as a committed and dedicated chairman who is sincerely touching the grassroots and extending the dividends of democracy.
