A Resident Priest in Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Fegge Onitsha, Rev Anthony Igwenagu has called on parents to offer their children to God and His service as priests and religious in the Catholic Church. The priest who made this call in the parish on Monday, 8th April 2024 asserted that offering one’s child to serve God as a priest or a religious is one of the greatest gifts they can give to God.
He itemized so many benefits from have one’s child serve God in such a special way, including having one who stands constantly for the family in prayer.Referencing St Theresa of the Child Jesus who died young, he disclosed that the Church recognizes her as one through whom many souls were converted, intimating that she dedicated every action she took for the conversion of souls.
Fr Igwenagu revealed that her father wanted to become a priest while her mother wanted to become a religious. Though the father was disqualified because he could not pass his exams, both parents prayed God to choose their children to serve him in ways they could not, and God answered their prayers by choosing six of their children, the last of whom is St Theresa of the Child Jesus.
