As Catholic fathers marked 2024 fathering Sunday, the CMO president St Marys Parish Alor Mr Law Okpala Okoye last Saturday enjoined follow fathers to always set good precedents for their children by living an exemplary life.
Mr Okoye made the call during an event to mark the fathering Sunday at the Parish premises.
According to him, the role of fathers in the family cannot be over emphasized, stating that Catholic fathers should strive to live a life reflecting their faith so that their children can be attracted by such life. He lamented that youth of this generation are going back to paganism because parents especially fathers have not done enough to show their children the right way.
He also counselled fathers to shun overthinking because of the hardship hitting the masses, explaining that thinking too much will not provide food on the table but can only result to high blood pressure which is another problem altogether. “Work hard and depend on God who is the great provider. Try to survive the current situation by less thinking and working hard” .
While congratulating fellow fathers on the event of 2024 fathering Sunday, he extolled the Parish priest Fr Izu Ifem for moving their Parish to an enviable height, testifying that he cares a lot for the parishioners and makes himself available all the time.
The Parish CMO secretary Cyprian Okakpu Okonkwo in his contribution expressed satisfaction over the fathering Sunday celebration, calling on fellow fathers to always unite their families and never shy away from their responsibilities.
Mr Ruben Muogbue who earlier delivered a lecture paganism, called on fathers not practice neopaganism , urging them to continue to guide their children towards the things of faith, so that they will not deviate or embrace worshipping of idols.
