In a powerful message, Archbishop Valerian Okeke on Saturday September 21, 2024 emphasized that every Christian has the potential to achieve greatness. Citing the transformation of Matthew, the tax collector, as an example, Archbishop Okeke encouraged believers to tap into their unique gifts and abilities to serve God.
His words ” Matthew, once a tax collector, exemplifies the transformative power of faith. He leveraged his intelligence and resourcefulness to become a passionate crusader for the Gospel. This remarkable conversion demonstrates that anyone can change and become an instrument of God’s greatness.”
Archbishop Okeke stressed that every Christian has inherent potential for greatness. He emphasized that God has extraordinary plans for each believer, and it’s up to individuals to access and fulfill them. ” Every Christian possesses distinct talents and abilities to serve God and humanity. Like Matthew, anyone can undergo a transformative experience, shifting from self-centeredness to serving others. The local ordinary cautioned against allowing anyone to undermine one’s potential, saying:
“Anybody who tells you otherwise is a liar.”
He encouraged believers to recognize their worth, understand their value in God’s eyes,
embrace their calling, discover and pursue their divine purpose, trust God’s guidance, rely on divine direction to unlock their full potential.
The prelate further made it clear that every Christian has the potential for greatness, emphasizing that transformation is possible through faith.
“Unique gifts and abilities can be used for God’s glory and don’t let anyone undermine your potential”, he advised .
