Residents of certain parts of Anambra State are set to experience a five-day blackout due to a planned maintenance activity by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC). The outage, scheduled from December 2 to 6, 2023, is necessary for engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria to conduct maintenance on their facility.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Emeka Ezeh, the Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, it was disclosed that the 60MVA power transformer at the GCM station would be shut down during the maintenance period. The affected areas include Ogbaru District and some parts of Onitsha District.
The statement listed specific feeders that would be without power supply during the maintenance, impacting areas such as Atani, Bida, Main Market, Iweka, Fegge, and adjoining estates. Additionally, heavy-industrial clusters within Ogbaru would be affected, leading to a temporary suspension of power for the entire duration of the maintenance.
Emeka Ezeh expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the planned outage but assured customers that the EEDC is committed to restoring power promptly once the maintenance is successfully completed. The statement concluded by emphasizing the company’s dedication to providing quality service delivery to its customers.
