As Christians across the world celebrate Easter, the Supreme Knight of the Order of the Knights of Saint Mulumba Nigeria (KSM), Sir Steve Adehi, SAN, has called on Knights and Ladies of the Order to renew their commitment to sacrifice, charity, and the defence of truth, reminding them that the Resurrection of Christ is the ultimate symbol of hope and victory.
In his Easter message, the Supreme Knight said Easter represents the triumph of faith and the assurance that sacrifices made for Christ and humanity are never wasted. “Easter remains the supreme affirmation that sacrifice offered in fidelity to Christ is never in vain; that suffering endured for the sake of truth gives way to eternal life,” he said.
Reflecting on the spiritual journey of Lent and Holy Week, Adehi noted that the season of fasting, prayer, and discipline prepares Christians to fully appreciate the mystery of redemption and the joy of the Resurrection. According to him, “the Resurrection stands as the eternal triumph of light over darkness, life over death, and hope over despair.”
He urged members of the Order to renew the noble ideals of sacrifice through service to the poor, defence of truth, and commitment to formation and mission. He emphasized that charity must go beyond token gestures. “Let our charity be organised, purposeful, and far-reaching, extending beyond our immediate circles to all Nigerians of goodwill, and addressing not only immediate needs but also the root causes of human suffering,” he said.
The Supreme Knight also reminded Knights and Ladies that Easter calls Christians to witness their faith in practical ways in society. “As Easter people, we are called to be witnesses of the Resurrection: in our families, by modelling sacramental love; in our parishes, by strengthening the life and mission of the Church; in our workplaces, by demonstrating integrity and excellence; and in our nation, contributing meaningfully to a politics and culture worthy of resurrection values,” he stated.
He concluded by praying for the intercession of Saint Mulumba, the courage of the Holy Martyrs of Uganda, and the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, wishing all members of the Order a joyful and blessed Easter celebration.
