Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONET), a foremost citizen stakeholders group, has applauded Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and the Anambra State Government on the recent multiple awards secured at the National Innovation and Digital Economy Council Meeting.
The event saw Anambra State achieving outstanding success by winning four eminent awards during the ICT peer review session at the 11th National Council on Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) meeting convened in Kano.
Anambra State claimed four prestigious awards as the Overall Best State in Digital Technology Development; First Position for Best State in Digital Infrastructure Technology Development; and First Runner-up in e-Government Implementation; as well as in Digital Technology Human Capital Development.
Leader of the group, Prince Chris Azor, while speaking to newsmen, described the awards as well deserved and commendable.
Comrade Azor who doubles as the State Civil Society/Non State Co-Chair, Open Government Partnership (OGP), stated that the awards were reflections of the Governor’s Open governance Policy and Reform Centred approach to leadership.
The citizen’s advocate recalled with nostalgia the numerous achievements of the governor in good governance reforms, infrastructure, e-government, and human capital development with less than two years in office.
Such uncommon feats, according to him, were recorded in public finance management through digitization of the budgeting system in Anambra State to enhance efficiency, transparency and accountability, integration of technology into government project management, deploying of a live dashboard and progress reports for execution and evaluation.
In the education and health sectors there’s currently free nursery, primary and secondary education, recruitment of about five thousand teachers and over 500 health personnel. Youth empowerment recently received a big boost with 5,000 beneficiaries of 1 youth 2 skills empowered with seed grants to the tune of N2bn; as well as sundry governance initiatives.
The group therefore offered to partner and collaborate with Soludo’s government in upholding good governance practices for sustainable development of the state
