The Bishop of Katsina Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Mamman Musa, made his first pastoral visit to St. Patrick’s Parish, Gidan Mai Kambu since the community experienced an abduction crisis. The visit took place on Sunday, accompanied by spiritual healing, sacramental celebration, and community renewal.
The parish greeted him with songs, dances, and traditional displays of welcome, signaling joy and hope at his presence. At the Sunday Mass, 134 candidates received the sacrament of confirmation. In addition, the Bishop blessed and formally reopened the renovated primary school located within the parish compound.
In his homily, Bishop Musa drew on themes of perseverance, faith, and service, referencing the prophet Habakkuk to call the faithful to trust God even amid trials. He encouraged the community not to lose heart, but to remain anchored in prayer and steadfastness.
After Mass, the Bishop led the blessing of the refurbished classrooms, urging parents, teachers, and parish leaders to maintain the facility responsibly and support its use as a center of learning and hope. He prayed that the school would nurture many minds and become a space of opportunity for the children it serves.
Parish groups—youth associations, women’s groups, and local outstations—offered gifts and performances, and a joint photograph with the Bishop, clergy and newly confirmed candidates brought the celebrations to a close.
