The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Most Rev. Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh has saddled the priests and parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish, Wusasa, Zaria, with the responsibility of building a school through which Catholic education may be promoted and acquired.
His Lordship who was on his first pastoral visit to the parish, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, disclosed that, from his observation, the parish has the highest number of children in the diocese, when compared to other parishes which has visited.
He called on the youths in the parish, many of whom he saw during the Mass to make their presence felt in the parish through active participation in the affairs of the Church and through worthwhile initiatives and activities. Observing poor involvement of children in the Holy Childhood (HCA) and Young Missionary Movement of Nigeria (YOMMN) at the parish, the bishop implored both parents and other stakeholders, to facilitate the enrolment of children into both groups.
Bishop Daboh oriented the 169 candidates for confirmation in the Sacrament they were about to receive. He told them, “This sacrament you are about to receive will prepare you to be soldiers of God.”
“You will receive the Holy Spirit today and when you receive the Holy Spirit, allow Him to take control of you. Whatever thing you want to do, seek the will of God. Ask God first. Wherever you go, defend your faith, because you are going to be soldiers of Christ. Defend your faith by telling people who you are and who you belong to – that is Jesus Christ.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Cletus Dauya had in his address of welcome thanked the bishop for making out time to visit them. He expressed gratitude to the chief shepherd for “the tangible signs of your care, including the plastering and tiling of our Church. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to our parish. We are honoured to have you as our shepherd.”
