Bishop Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria has attributed delayed or unexpected answers to prayers to approaching God the wrong way. The chief shepherd proffered talking to God from within as one of the secrets to answered prayers.
He told his flock that the God within them listens to them, and that He knows what they are passing through, even as he tasked them to examine their lives in order to ascertain other attitudes that negate answers to their prayers.
“The problem is that a lot of us do not know how to pray.” The bishop observed. “It is not shouting that makes God to hear us. It is simply talking to God from your heart. Do not be afraid of Him. Talk to Him. He listens to you. He sees what you are passing through.”
“That is why my brothers and sisters, sometimes, when we pray and we do not receive, we need to go inward and check ourselves. ‘Why are my prayers not answered? Why is my business not flourishing? Why am I not making it in life?’ Go inward, ask yourself. You may be the reason.”
“If you do not grant yourself that disposition, God may not do it for you. And so, when you go inwards and you search yourself, you will know whether you are the problem of your business; whether you are the reason, why life is so difficult for you.”
Bishop Daboh reminded them that they are all children of God, imploring them to unlock their blessings by extending assistance to the needy, no matter how small the assistance may seem.
