The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Oyo, Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, has emphasised that the call to evangelise is not the sole responsibility of priests but extends to every baptized member of the Church.
Speaking to Catholics, Bishop Badejo urged lay faithful to recognise their role in spreading the Gospel, saying that evangelisation begins within everyday life—through prayer, witness and action. He warned against the misconception that ministry is reserved only for ordained clergy and challenged all believers to embrace their missionary calling.
Highlighting the role of modern communications and digital media, he pointed out that the “pulpit” of the Gospel has expanded beyond the sanctuary into homes, workplaces and social networks. Bishop Badejo encouraged the faithful to use these platforms responsibly to share Christian values and the good news of Christ.
