The deputy governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the November 8 gubernatoral election in Anambra State, Uzu Okagbue has urged Anambra citizens to rise up against incessant insecurity and bad governance of the current administration in the State.
He emphasized that Anambra State is bleeding not just from bullets, but from betrayal, stressing their need for Ndi Anambra to rise up against insecurity, bad governance and stop keeping silent.
Uzu Okagbue made the assertion during his visit to hospital to identify with Ifeanyichukwu Muokwe who under gone major surgery as a result of bullets wound inflicted to him by kidnappers.
He lamented that the most breaking heart part of the insecurity is that it occurs in daily bases under the current administration in the state even as he said armed criminals are dictating the terms of existence while the government of the day either watching in confusion or hides behind excuses.
“After a spiritual uplifting Sunday worship, my heart still basking in the serenity of devine presence. I was immediately pulled back into the cold brutal reality of our state. I went strength to the hospital to see our dear brother, Ifeanyichukwu Muokwe who had under gone major surgery in the early hours of the morning” Said Uzu Okagbue.
Uzu Okagbue described attack of Muokwe by kidnappers who he said laid siege at Umunnachi as a harrowing, stressing that what he saw broke his heart as the body of Muokwe was tored by bullets and he was laying in agony.
He explained that even the physical pain seemed to pale besides the deeper wound which he said expresses abandonment of helplessness in a land that once brimmed with promise.
“Around him were other victims too, each one a chilling testament to the horror that now stalks our streets. Gun shot wounds shattered limbs and broken spirits littered the ward like silent screams echoing unanswered in the night. Uzu Okagbue added.
“I found myself asking, as any sane soul would: What exactly is the crime of Ndi Anambra? What offense have we committed to deserve this reign of blood and terror? How did we as a people known for our resilience, become prey in our own homeland ?” Okagbue queried.
