The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) said it will commence its continuous electronic membership registration nationwide on March 1, ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr Ejimofor Opara, made the disclosure during a news conference on Friday in Awka at the South East regional headquarters of the party.

Opara said the exercise would take place simultaneously across the 8,809 electoral wards in the country, saying that already the party had attained its one million membership mark and hoped that the exercise would help it hit the two million mark.

He said the initiative underscored APGA’s commitment to innovation, transparency and inclusivity in party administration, adding that the electronic registration which earlier commenced, would officially re-open on March 1, and was open to all interested Nigerians.

Part of the text he read stated: ‘Prospective members are required to present a valid voter’s card and two passport photographs to complete the process.

‘The registration can be done online via the party’s official website at www.officialapga.ng, through WhatsApp on 07055363333 or at ward centres where registration forms could be obtained.

‘New members would be issued a temporary membership slip after registration, pending the issuance of their permanent membership cards,’ he said.

Fielding questions from journalists, the spokesman stated that APGA was the first progressive party in the country, but added that with the springing up of other parties that shared progressive ideas, there was need for all of them to come together to work for the betterment of Nigerians.

‘One thing we know is that all parties that profess progressivism are geared towards the welfare of the people. So, we are of the idea that progressives can coalesce and work together.

‘APGA is a big party with defined ideology and cannot be subsumed into another political party, but we believe that for the good of the people, all progressive parties should come together and work as one,’ he said.
