The Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province,His Grace,most Rev Valerian Okeke has felicitated youths across the world particularly in Nigeria on the celebration of World Youth Day 2023 which took place in Lisbon,Portugal from 1st to 6th August 2023.
The Archbishop who arrived Lisbon,Portugal safely,was among a delegation of Nigerian bishops and others from across the world who attended the event where Pope Francis presided.
On arrival, Archbishop Okeke offered special prayers for the Youths and expressed hope that the experience from the spiritual excercise may bring hope and progress to the youths and the entire people of God under the pastoral care of bishops and also a brighter future for young people.
According to records,World Youth Day is an event for young people organised by the Catholic Church that was initiated by Saint Pope John Paul 11 in 1986.
The theme of the WYD 2023 is,”Mary arose and went with haste”(Lk1:39).
