As part of the Sports Jubilee of 2025, themed Hope, the Vatican’s Dicastery for Culture and Education has announced an international photography competition titled Sport in Motion – What Is Essential Is Invisible to the Eyes. This initiative, open to young people under the age of 25, aims to highlight the intersection of sports with key social themes through visual storytelling.
The competition features five categories: Sport and Hope, Sport and Family, Sport and Ecology, Sport and Disability and Sport and Politics. Participants are invited to submit unpublished photographs, taken after 2020 and free from Artificial Intelligence alterations, to the email address sportinmotion@dce.va
Submissions will be accepted until April 30, 2025 and participation is free and open to all, including non-professionals.
A total of 13 winning photographs will be selected, with one chosen for Sport and Hope and three each for the other four categories. The winners will be announced on June 14, 2025, during the Sports Jubilee celebration.
The winning photographers will have the unique opportunity to meet Pope Francis, visit the Vatican Museums with a focus on artistic experience, and have their works showcased across Vatican media platforms, according to the Dicastery for Culture and Education.
