Massive crowds have greeted the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the November 8 Guber Poll in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his Deputy, Senator Uche Ekwunife, as their thank-you tours across the state gather momentum.
A statement from an Ukachukwu media aide, Mr Chuddy Brass Dickson, made available to Trinitas, described the response of people to the APC Candidate as unprecedented.
According to Dickson, the tours which had covered such LGAs as Ayamelum, Orumba South, Aguata, Nnewi North and South and Ogbaru, were aimed at connecting with the electorate.
His words, ‘The Ikukuoma Campaign Organization has embarked on a post-party primaries “thank you” visit to all the local government councils in Anambra State. The visit is strategically designed to appreciate the party leaders, delegates, and the grassroots for their support and confidence in the candidacy of Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu in the coming Gubernatorial Election.’
He said the visit to Ayamelum, Tuesday 17 June, cut across several other local councils and created a platform for him to connect with members of the party across all the wards and polling units in the state, reconcile with aggrieved members of the party, woo decampees from other political parties, share the party manifesto to people in the grassroots in order to galvanize there in-puts, and sell the APC programmes in the state.
‘The visits have electrified the political atmosphere of activities leading to the Anambra State Gubernatorial Election as the campaign organization has unfolded some of the political packages of Prince Dr. Ukachukwu to Ndi Anambra. These programmes focus more on improving the security network of the state; transformation of the economy of the state, with special attention to some of the state economic hubs like Nnewi, with the intention of creating massive global industrial hub in the area; improvement of the living standards of the citizens, with special attention to health, education, tourism, agriculture and foreign direct investment in the state.
The highlights of the visits included interactive sessions between Prince Ukachukwu, his Deputy Senator Uche Ekwunife, and leaders of the party across all the strata of the state party structure, and review of all existing political issues and strategies that will impact positively in the execution of the electoral campaign of the APC candidate when it finally kicks off.
Dickson said the tour, which he described as “Thank you”, witnessed the unveiling of some vital areas of the campaign manifestoes which included Farmers’ Grant Scheme to the riverine areas; and an end to insecurity.
Ukachukwu was received in Orumba South by such personalities as the APC Chairman of Orumba South Local Govt Area, Hon. Emeka Okeke; a stakeholder, Chief Sir Onyi Uzochukwu; as well as the leader of SOFIG, Hon. John Akanyeonu, who all extolled the virtues of Nicholas Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife.
They assured them of total support and election victory in Orumba South Local Govt Area of Anambra State.
In the same vein the former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Ugwa, a stakeholder, Chief Bounty Onuigbo; as well as the women’s leader and grassroots mobilizer, Mrs. Oby Mezih, promised to deliver all the polling units in Orumba South LGA.
In Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA, the home base of the incumbent Governor, Dickson described the crowd as mammoth, which witnessed the attendance of sons and daughters, stakeholders, party faithful, PDP and APGA decampees, as well as more than 60 support groups who pledged support for Ukachukwu and Ekwunife. He said similar crowds were also witnessed in all the other LGAs.
Dickson described the pairing of Ukachukwu and Ekwunife as the best winning team anybody could imagine, noting that if ordinary thank you tours could record such success, the scenario during the main campaign tours would be unimaginable.
