A Catholic priest Rev Fr Prof Oguejiofor last Sunday advised Christians to stop manufacturing sins that are not in existence.
Fr Oguejiofor who is a resident priest at Holy Family Parish Akuzor Nkpor gave the advice while preaching a homily. According to him, some Catholics who claim to be holier than the Pope sometimes manufacture sins because they distance themselves from the catechism and doctrines of the church.
He explained that those who are fasting from food for more than one hour before receiving the Blessed Sacrament are doing that on their own decision not that the church approved that, adding that one hour alone after meal is enough before receiving Holy communion but the sick can receive Holy communion minutes after eating and that doesn’t constitute a sin.
He also explained that those who missed Sunday evening instructions or benediction has not committed any sin even though it is very necessary to attend such church activities.
Fr Oguejiofor further explained that only mortal sins such as committing murder internationally, conspiracy and other evils can stop a communicant from receiving Holy communion.
“Being in a state of grace he said means being prepared both spiritually and physically, enjoining faithful to always go to confession frequently. “Even when you received Communion few minutes back, it doesn’t stop you from going to confession because purification is an ongoing process since we are living in the world of sin.
“Those who take alcohol must stay atleast for three hours after consuming alcohol before they can receive Holy communion”, he reminded Christians.
