The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has commiserated with entire Nnebe family of Umuokpu Village, Amawbia, over the passing of Rt. Hon. Anayo Nnebe, a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, who died on Wednesday 24th January 2024 in Awka.
Gov. Soludo who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, visited the family of the departed lawmaker in Umuokpu Village, Amawbia, and condoled with the wife, Mrs. Nnebe and other family members present; and also signed the condolence register.
He described the late Speaker as having distinguished himself as a key soldier for democracy and was widely admired as a humble, accessible grassroots political leader who relentlessly championed the interests of his people.
‘Ichele Awka served the state, Awka North and South and its people diligently and devoted his life to uplifting common good,’ said the governor.
Dr. Ibezim added that in his capacity, he was equally identifying with the entire Nnebe family over the loss, explaining that the late Rt. Honorable Nnebe was his bosom friend in so many ramifications.
Dr. Ibezim prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed Nnebe and the fortitude on the part of the entire family, friends, admirers and the people of the state in bearing the loss.
Mr. Ossy Onuko, M.D. Awka Capital Territory Development Authority; Prince Azubuike Iloh, a former City Mayor of Awka South, were some of the dignitaries who accompanied the Deputy Governor to commiserate with the Nnebe family over the demise of Rt. Hon. Nnebe.
