Worried by the small number of communicants who do receive Holy communion in every Holy Mass celebrated, the oldest Catholic priest of Onitsha Archdiocese, Very Rev. Dr Hilary Anisiobi, warned Christians to desist from the bad attitude of attending Holy Mass without receiving the Holy communion.
Fr Anisiobi who clocked 95 years this year gave the warning while addressing the faithful during a religious function at Ogbunike Community.
His words: ” Every communicant is expected to receive Holy communion during Holy Mass. It is worrisome to discover that 20 or 30 percent of the communicants receive the body of Christ during Holy Masses. If you are not in the state of grace to receive Holy communion, make haste and go to confession to amend your life and reconcile with God in order not to deny your self the special grace of receiving Christ our Lord. Catholics should realize the great privilege of welcoming Christ into our lives frequently by regular receiving of the Holy communion.”

[5/25, 10:23 AM] Charles Office: Embracing paganism is going to land of slavery – Archbishop Okeke
By Nna Anulumadu
The Chief Shepherd of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, last Sunday, called on Christians to shun paganism and be committed to their faith in God.
The Prelate gave the advice during a homily.
According to him, any Christian who embraces paganism in attempt to find a solution to a problem is simply going back to the land of slavery.
He expressed worry that nowadays people resurrect forgotten deities that never brought light or life to our forefathers. Rather they embrace such acts, creating gods to worship because they have been brainwashed by the so called witch doctors they have consulted.
He stated categorically that there is no life or solution in paganism, rather one ends up in the land of slavery where one’s soul will be perpetually sold to the devil. He reminded the faithful that those who suffer for the evil they committed won’t get crown of glory since they are only paying for their sins. “You are on course when you suffer for good and you will gain glory at the end.”
The Prelate further charged Christians to share from the glory of Christ by accomplishing the task before us as Christians. ” Do your own duty as Christians. Always stand on the truth with integrity and demonstrate full commitment in practicing your Christianity and you will begin to witness God’s miracles in your life.”
