The Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, last Sunday, November 24th, 2024, urged Christians to shun hatred and stand by the truth at all times.
Archbishop Okeke gave this advice while delivering a sermon to mark the feast of Christ the King at Christ the King College, Onitsha. He emphasized that hatred has severe spiritual consequences, making one blind to the truth and leading to the erosion of compassion, wisdom, and love.
“Hatred wipes away the grace of God in us, causing us to act like animals,” Archbishop Okeke cautioned. “As Christians, we must strive to stand by the truth, even in the face of adversity. Truthfulness is a fundamental virtue that guides our actions and decisions.”
The Archbishop encouraged Christians to cultivate a culture of love, forgiveness, and compassion, which are essential for building a harmonious and peaceful society.
“In a world filled with hatred and violence, we must be beacons of hope and love,” Archbishop Okeke said. “As followers of Christ, we are called to promote truth, justice, and peace. Let us strive to live out these values in our daily lives.”
“Hatred makes one blind spiritually and wipes away compassion, wisdom, and love.”
As Christians, we must stand by the truth, even in the face of adversity. Truthfulness is a fundamental virtue that guides our actions and decisions.”
Archbishop Okeke’s message serves as a timely reminder for Christians to shun hatred and stand by the truth. By promoting a culture of love, forgiveness, and compassion, we can build a more harmonious and peaceful society.
