The manager, Mater Amabilis secondary school Umuoji, Rev Fr Onwuchulum, has advised Nigerian youth to desist from making wealth through evil means, including worship of devil and evil spirits.
Fr Onwuchulum, who spoke extensively on the need for the youths to engage in meaningful ventures that yield genuine wealth, expressed worry that our young people are embracing peganism just to get rich at all cost.
According to him, sacrificing one’s salvation at the altar of making wealth spells doom for the perpetrators since such wealth is a punishment in disguise.
“I personally feel so sad about this phenomenon creeping into our society and that was where our ancestors were before the missionaries came and showed us the light. But unfortunately, people are beginning to go back to those practices that did not benefit even our ancestors, and such sudden paradigm shift is very regrettable and bad. Our youths need to be reminded that life is not a roller-coaster ride. In essence, there is no shortcut to success. If one is going to be successful, it must be earned at the altar of sacrifice buased on personal determination, hard work and perseverance. Unfortunately you have a lot of people in the social media and other places giving the impression that one can just wake up and the next day he becomes very rich and begins to throw money and other material things around. It is a very wrong impression.
Youths should know that there is no shortcut to making wealth. Any wealth acquired through ritual means, robbery or kidnapping does not last. Perseverance, hardwork and prayers are virtues that pay both in the long run and short run”. He posited that a good number of people embracing fetish life are poorly educated people or uneducated ones who lacked the orientation follow the right path.
” This is why it is good for parents to send their wards to Catholic schools like Mater Amabilis secondary, Umuoji where they will receive sound moral training that will guide them throughout their entire life”, he advised
