Christians have been admonished to prioritize the will of God over their affairs, so that He may empower them to attend to their needs. Drawing his message from the readings of Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Parish Priest of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Rev. Fr. Dr. Ezekiel Danlami Tijjani, cited the Israelites as people who suffered for placing their needs above the Will of God.
Inltimating that the Israelites began rebuilding their private houses instead of rebuilding the Houses of the Lord as God commanded them, the priest told them that they are meant to seek and do the will of God first, every day of their lives.“Let us do the will of God and then allow Him to enable us to do other things for ourselves.” Fr. Tijjani guided. “The command was to rebuild the House of God when they got back to Judah. But instead of rebuilding the House of the Lord, they were rebuilding their own houses. That is why, in whatever we are doing, we must seek the face of God, the will of God and do it first.
“The Bible says, that we should seek God’s Kingdom and His righteousness first and every other thing will be added unto us. Every day, God gives us opportunity to seek His face and do it. And every day, we are to ask God what His will is for. When we submit to the will of God, we will be able to do it beyond our imaginations.”
Fr. Tijjani explained that the Israelites suffered, the consequences of their disobedience, by being hungry after eating, being thirsty after drinking and by not harvesting after planting. He prayed that God may grant them the grace to discern and do His will, so that they do not disobey His as the Israelites did.
