In present day Nigeria where over 130 million citizens are facing multidimensional poverty amidst harsh economic realities, the new governments that were recently sworn in particularly those of Lagos, Kaduna and Kano States are demolishing people’s property without considering the psychological and financial heartbreaks the effect would have on the affected individuals.
Ever consistent in his idea of pulling people out of poverty, the LP presidential candidate, HE Peter Obi recognized that it is insensitive for any government to demonish people’s structures in an inauspicious time like this, as implementing such exercise has left the affected persons in the worst conditions of wailing and gnashing of teeth. It is unfair to cause some Nigerians to lose their hard earned property that runs into billions of naira when prices of commodities and goods have skyrocketed to high heavens.
Indeed, the millions of Nigerians that elected the former governor of Anambra State and his vice, Sen. Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed made the right call to leadership for dear country. While we keep our eyes on the Judiciary to right INEC’s wrongs, we should keep hope alive that a New Nigeria is still POssible to come. Yes!
