The Parishioners of “Our Lady Queen of Peace catholic church” housing estate Fegge, Onitsha in Anambra state have invested the parish Priest of the church, Rev. Fr. Basil Okeluo with the title of, “Nna di ora nma. The title which was given to the Catholic clergy during the celebration of fathering Sunday was to appreciate his loving kindness to the parishioners and general commitment to the development of the parish.
Speaking to newsmen after the investiture, one of the planning committee members for the Fathering Sunday celebration, Chief Sir lkechukwu Maduka, Onwa, disclosed that the CMO members of the church found it expedient to honour their priest along side some of the parishioners for their contribution towards the progress and growth of the Parish. He described the award as meritorious.
Also speaking at the occasion, one of the awardees of the honor who was promoted to patron from “eminent father, Mr Chinedu Umeokoro similarly extolled the foresight of the CMO members of the parish in choosing their Parish Priest for the award. Speaking on the award given to him by the Parish and other recipients, Rev. Fr. Okeluo explained that the parish doled out the awards just to encourage them for the efforts they are putting in for the upkeep of the church.
The president of the Catholic Men Organisation of the Parish, Sir Ben Agbalizu commended the parishioners of the church for the concern they had shown for the fathering Sunday celebration. Some activities mapped out for the celebration of the event included: Egg Race, competition in lgbo proverbs, cultural dance and general entertainment of guests by the church members.
