With colourful and splendid display of Igbo cultural outing and Rosary Procession,the Onitsha Archdiocesan Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) Archdiocese of Onitsha on Saturday,10th May 2025, celebrated the World Union of Catholic Women’s Day (WUWCO)at the CWO Bethany House,Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha.
They were led in the celebration by the Onitsha Archdiocesan Director of the CWO,Dame Dr Ngozi Nwanosike assisted by the various Organizers of the zones.
The opening Mass was celebrated by the Vicar of the Basilica,Rev Fr Emmanuel Megwalu who in his homily commended the women for their various unflinching contributions towards the growth of the church.
At the end of the dancing competition,prizes and commendations were given to the winners by the chaplain of the CWO/Vicar General,Archdiocese of Onitsha Rev Fr JohnBosco Okafor.
The result of the dancing competition is as follows:
The 1st position was clinched by the CWO Onitsha Region with 92 points.
The 2nd position went to CWO Nnobi Region with 84 points while the 3rd position was clinched by Iyiowa Region with 83 points.CWO Dunukofia Region came 4th with 79 points.
Dame Dr Nwanosike expressed gratitude to the women for their great display of interest and commitment towards the success of the event.She also thank the Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke for his unwavering support to the CWO and also thanked the CWO chaplains Rev Fathers JohnBosco Okafor and Collins Okoye for their advise.She also thanked Rev Fr Emmanuel Megwalu for his rich sermon and for finding time to celebrate the Mass.
Three Rev Sisters served as the judges.
Various spectacular dance steps epitomizing the indepth insight of Igbo cultural dance and heritage were displayed.
One of the major highlights on the ocassion was the Rosary Procession and veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
