The Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), Dr. Justina C. Anyadiegwu, has reaffirmed the College’s full alignment with the Anambra State Government’s Smart Education Reform under the leadership of Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, promising the readiness of her institution to produce smart teachers.
The Provost who made this known in her 2026 Beginning-of-Year Message, noted that the State Government’s establishment of Smart Schools across Anambra State placed a strategic responsibility on NOCEN, as the state’s flagship teacher-training institution, to produce digitally competent and future-ready teachers.
‘Smart schools require smart teachers. It is our duty to equip both pre-service and in-service teachers with the digital, pedagogical, and technological skills needed to teach smart pupils in smart schools,’ she stated.
Dr. Anyadiegwu disclosed that the College was rolling out massive capacity-building programmes for its academic staff and Anambra State Basic Education teachers, in partnership with UBEC and ASUBEB, to ensure effective delivery of the Smart Schools initiative.
She further announced that the Department of Curriculum Instruction and Educational Technology had been mandated to lead the implementation of the strategic intervention, with full institutional support.
According to the Provost, the 2026 academic year would focus on consolidation on digital transformation, accountability, staff development, and institutional excellence, positioning NOCEN as a key driver of the state’s education reform agenda.
She called on staff members and students to embrace discipline, innovation, and professionalism as the College moved into what she described as a year of consolidation and greater impact.
