The Man of Order and Discipline (MOD),on Sunday celebrated it’s founder’s day.The founder and Chaplain-General of the order was the late Very Rev Msgr O.P Achebe who died 28 years ago.
The celebration came as the universal church celebrated the Sunday of the Word of God.
At the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha, dozens of members of the MOD attended a thanksgiving Mass to remember their late Chaplain General.
Preaching the Gospel,Basilica Vicar,Rev Fr Emmanuel Megwalu reminded the congregation that the universal church was observing the Sunday of the celebration of the word of God which fell on the 3rd Sunday of the Ordinary Time.
According to him,the church dedicated the Sunday to celebrate the word of God for the faithful to deepen their faith in God.
While admonishing members of the MOD to remain beacons of discipline and order and also be good ambassadors of the church,Fr Megwalu tasked them to make the word of God their guiding principle since their founder laid the foundation of their society on solid word of God and discipline.
According to Fr Megwalu, God’s words bring change of heart and transformation adding that if anyone doesn’t listen to it,he will not be saved. The word of God he stressed,is spirit and life and that also, faith comes by hearing.
“The word of God brings you progress and hope in our lives”,he stated.
Fr Megwalu further said,”The church wants us to learn how to listen to God.When you listen to it,you get your freedom and salvation.God speaks to us through his words and the faithful is enjoined not to interpret the Gospel differently”.
He pointed out that the word of God speaks to mankind’s various conditions as Jesus said,”Come to me and I will make your burden lighter”.
He urged the faithful to go and encounter God in the Gospel by reading the Gospel of Luke Chapter 8 verse 34 as well as other inspiring verses to see that the word of God is enriching.
Members of the MOD were led to the thanksgiving by their Archdiocesan commander,Lt Colonel Iburu JohnBosco.
