Members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Nkpor, last Sunday testified that the parish status granted to them a few months ago is currently boosting evangelism in their community.
The parish council vice chairman, Chief Fidelis Nwosu, who disclosed this to Trinitas correspondents, commended the chief shepherd of the Onitsha Archdiocese, the Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, for elevating their church to a full-fledged parish, saying that the elevation has brought about massive evangelism in the community.
He also extolled the parish priest, Rev. Fr Christian Muokwe, for his committed efforts in moving the new parish to a higher level, revealing that in fewer than six months of existence, they have embarked on the erection of a fathers’ house, which is nearing completion.
Nwosu further stressed the need for every Catholic to embark on evangelism in order to bring back youth who are currently embracing idolatry, stating that preaching the gospel should not be left in the hands of the priests alone.
“Talk to your brothers and sisters who are backsliding in faith; tell them there is no life in traditional religious worshiping and pray for their conversion,” he said.
