In an effort to celebrate the Year of Hope as declared by the Mother Church, St. Mary’s Parish Alor held a Mass wedding for members of the church living as husbands and wives without the sacrament of matrimony on August 9th, 2025.
The Mass wedding witnessed 14 couples tying the knot to solidify and legalize their marriages in church.
Speaking to Trinitas correspondent, the Parish Priest, Fr. Izuu Ifem, congratulated the new couples, enjoining them to always back their marriage with regular prayers and communication.
He also advised them to sustain love and peace by respecting and tolerating each other at all times. According to him, no marriage is perfect, but through constant prayers and tolerance, an exemplary marriage can be achieved.
He reminded others who are still living as husband and wife without wedding to have a rethink and make themselves available for wedding in subsequent times, since they are currently living in a state of sin that deprives them of spiritual benefits, such as receiving the blessed sacrament and full recognition by the Church as married couples.
Notwithstanding making the Mass wedding free, the parish also sponsored a colorful reception for the new couples and their relatives.
ASUBEB chairman Dr. Mrs Vera Nwadinobi also donated a giant cake for the new couples
